A variety of approaches and techniques can be productive in the self-discovery process. Some people respond best to the standard one-on-one time in an office. Elizabeth's first priority is to create a comfortable setting – regardless of geography – that makes each individual at ease in sharing his or her significant life experiences. A feeling of respect, non judgmental attitude and positive regard will be felt when meeting with Elizabeth.  With this atmosphere set, the ability to develop new perspectives, coping mechanisms and problem-solving skills will prosper.

About Walk and Talk

Elizabeth Dossman finds her “Walk and Talk” sessions particularly effective. These sessions take a similar approach as described above, and move it outdoors. Numerous studies recognize the positive relationship between exercise and a healthy mind.

During exercise, changes occur in our brain chemistry and neurotransmitters such as serotonin are released as well as endorphins. This release can lessen depression and anxiety and helps one feel a sense of calm. Oxygen intake can also increase the blood flow in our brain – leading to a higher level of alertness and concentration.

This is NOT a strenuous workout, but people often enjoy being a part of nature. Walking parallel with a therapist can feel more like a journey taken together and getting outdoors can break the “inside cycle” that we often live in.
